Is AI killing SEO?
The short answer is no. They are not adversaries, they operate in parallel.
Despite the growing perception that 'Google is dead' and that LLMs are the new default interface to information, the reality is more prosaic: the overwhelming majority of searches still take place on Google (around 94%). Search behaviour has not been replaced.
That said, ignoring visibility within LLM ecosystems would be short-sighted. The shift is not either/or but both/and. Brands now need to be discoverable across traditional search engines and within AI-mediated environments.
Crucially, this makes organic content and long-term brand building more important! Strong brand signals, consistent expertise, and authoritative content are what help both search engines and LLMs recognise, retrieve, and prioritise a brand.
In other words, nothing is being 'killed'. The marketing mix is simply expanding.
